Thomas Frank came highly recommended by an attorney I trust and represented me in a complex matter against a large business entity represented by a large NYC firm. He immediately grasped the nature and scope of my case and came up with a brilliant, linear strategy in short order. Just as swiftly, Thomas strategically executed on each step. I have worked with white glove law firms and have never found the level of consistency and professionalism that Thomas provided in his capacity of counsel. He literally made zero mistakes, even in the moments of game time decisions in the courtroom. Not only that, his creativity and judgement led to an outcome that exceeded my expectations, and, as a human being, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend Thomas Frank highly enough!

We came to Frank Law Firm because our original attorney put us in a scenario where everything was mismanaged. Amanda quickly cleaned up our previous attorneys mess and put us back on track. From day one they were very transparent about their process and fees. They provided fantastic guidance for us as new home owners. The team was highly responsive and often took time to ensure we fully understood potential outcomes and next steps. Overall we would work with them again and recommend to friends.

Amanda was a pleasure to work with!!! Selling and buying a home at the same time is very stressful too begin with and my experience was very difficult and stressful to say the least. Amanda was so patient, always available, and very knowledgeable to every question and concern that I had. I was truly blessed to have her represent me with both of my transactions. I would definitely recommend The Frank Law Firm to anyone that is looking for the best lawyers out there!!!

Top of the line customer service. Helped me get my moving violation dismissed and I didn't have to do anything ! Was certain I would get in some trouble but was completely shocked when I received the news that it was completely dismissed. In the past with other law firms I paid a lot of money to only get the penalty months later. The Frank Law Firm dealt with my situation in the most kind and professional way. Very nice people.

Thomas Frank was a pleasure to work with. The experience was nothing but a professional one. Mr. Frank guided me through the whole process of Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He was always available to reach by email or texting at any time that I contacted him. He never failed to get back to me within hours. I highly recommend Mr. Frank for all of your legal issues. Also, you'll find their price for their legal services to be more than fair. Again, a great big thank you to a professional and knowledgeable team.

I needed an attorney quick fast and in a hurry. My girlfriend recommended this firm. I called and Amanda got back to me quickly. She researched my issue and gave me good guidance. She is a former prosecutor but able to explain convoluted legal concepts in a very straight forward way. We didn't wind up retaining the firm due to the time contraints of our case, but I know we will be working with them in the future. Give them a call, I think you will like what you hear.

I would like to thank Thomas in handling my first time home buying experience with his law firm. He was very polite and very professional. He even took the time to explain to me page by page about some documents I received from the seller, which by the way it was on his spare time to answer all of my concerns about those documents. He responded on every email and text that I had questions and concerns and I got answers. Thomas made himself accessible and told me if I have any other closing related issues pertaining any documents to give him a call. Thank you once again on doing a great job. I would highly recommend Thomas Frank and his law firm.

I retained Frank Law Firm when I received a warrant for an unpaid ticket. Not knowing the severity of this issue, I called and consulted Amanda. Before giving me any direction, she took the time to make some calls and figure out what exactly was going on. She then guided me through the process. She was very comforting and explained everything in a manor that I understood. I would like to send a sincere thank you to her and Frank Law Firm. The amount of attention and guidance I received was refreshing. I would recommend them to anyone!

Have a question?

From colonial times to the 1900s, the area now known as Jackson Heights was a vast marsh named Trains Meadow. Urbanization at the turn of the century was creating a New York City housing shortage and urban sprawl. In 1909, Edward A. MacDougall’s Queensboro Corporation bought 325 acres (132 ha) of undeveloped land and farms and christened them Jackson Heights after John C. Jackson, a descendant of one of the original Queens families and a respected Queens County entrepreneur. Northern Boulevard, a major thoroughfare that bisects the neighborhood, was also originally named Jackson Avenue; the name of this road is still retained in a short stretch between Queens Plaza and Queens-Midtown Tunnel in Long Island City. Though the land was not especially known for its elevation, the addition of the term “Heights” echoed the prestige of the neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights and indicated that Jackson Heights was meant to be an exclusive neighborhood. At that time the area could most easily be reached via a ferry from Manhattan or the Brooklyn Bridge; more direct access came with the Queensboro Bridge in 1909, followed by the elevated IRT Flushing Line-the present-day 7 train, just 20 minutes from Midtown Manhattan-in 1917, and the Fifth Avenue Coach Company double-decker coaches in 1922.

Jackson Heights was conceived as a planned development for middle- to upper-middle income workers looking to escape an overcrowded Manhattan. Inspired by Sir Ebenezer Howard’s garden city movement, it was laid out by Edward MacDougall’s Queensboro Corporation in 1916 and began attracting residents after the arrival of the Flushing Line in 1917. The Queensboro Corporation coined the name “garden apartment” to convey the concept of apartments built around private parks. Although land for churches was provided, the apartments themselves were limited to White Anglo-Saxon Protestants, excluding Jews, Blacks, and perhaps Greeks and Italians.

Several of the buildings in Jackson Heights were built by the Queensboro Corporation as part of a planned community located a few blocks off of the Flushing Line between Northern Boulevard and 37th Avenue. Targeted toward the middle class, these multi-story apartment buildings designed in the Colonial Revival and neo-Tudor styles were based on similar ones in Berlin. They were to share garden spaces, have ornate exteriors and features such as fireplaces, parquet floors, sun rooms, and built-in bathtubs with showers; and be cooperatively owned. In addition, the corporation divided the land into blocks and building lots, as well as installed streets, sidewalks, and power, water, and sewage lines. The Laurel apartment building on 82nd Street at Northern Boulevard was the first of the Queensboro Corporation buildings in Jackson Heights, completed in 1914 with a small courtyard. The Greystones on either side of 80th Street between 37th and 35th avenues were completed in 1918 with a design by architect George H. Wells. There was leftover unused space, which was converted to parks, gardens, and recreational areas, including a golf course; much of this leftover space, including the golf course, no longer exists. This was followed by the 1919 construction of the Andrew J. Thomas-designed Linden Court, a 10-building complex between 84th Street, 85th Street, 37th Avenue, and Roosevelt Avenue. The two sets of 5 buildings each, separated by a gated garden with linden trees and two pathways, included parking spaces with single-story garages accessed via narrow driveways, the first Jackson Heights development to do so; gaps at regular intervals in the perimeter wall; a layout that provided light and ventilation to the apartments, as well as fostered a sense of belonging to a community; the area’s first co-op; and now-prevalent private gardens surrounded by the building blocks.
